Best DIY Projects 63 Easy DIY Platform Beds That Anyone Can Build (24)

A bunk bed is a bed that is made so that there is a rectangular solid frame with flexible horizontal wooden slats for laying the mattress on. The bed is at an elevated height and the grid structure provides support and ventilation for the mattress without the need to use a box spring. It is often called a cabin bed. Nowadays, materials such as wood, metal, leather or MDF are used to manufacture flatbeds. It may or may not have a headboard and a footboard. These beds are usually assembled with screws and nails, but the high-end beds use mortise locks and tendons because they are quite sturdy because nails and screws tend to get loose over time. Platform beds are made in a contemporary European style with low features and clear, strong lines. Microfiber and leather upholstery serve as a comfortable backrest for the headboard. Some platform beds can carry a mattress without a box spring, while others can accommodate a box spring. Sometimes, due to lack of space, drawers are installed under the side rails or the running board under the frame of the platform bed. At times, retractable headboards are used for deep storage. A main advantage of a platform bed is the easy access under the bed for cleaning purposes. In summary, it can be said that a platform bed in your bedroom comes into its own with its well-coordinated sides and can be the ultimate storage location if there is storage space next to it.
